1. How Battle Damage Actually Works (In Plain English)
You don't need a math degree to understand combat in Kingshot! Every single clash in castle rallies, garrisons, and field skirmishes is simply a tug-of-war between Your Firepower and Their Armor:
What Makes You Hit Harder
Attacker
π₯ Troop Count:
More troops hit harder, but swarming has diminishing returns. Bringing 2Γ the troops only makes you about 40% stronger. Quality beats sheer headcount!
βοΈ Attack & Lethality:
Think of Attack as how hard you swing, and Lethality as how sharp the blade is. Because they multiply together, boosting both creates explosive kills!
β¨ Hero Skills:
Expedition skills (e.g. Chenko's +25% Lethality or Marlin's +25% Attack) multiply your total damage directly.
What Keeps You Alive
Defender
π‘οΈ Defense:
Acts like heavy armor plating. It softens incoming hits and cuts down the percentage of damage your squad absorbs.
β€οΈ Health (HP):
The total size of your soldiers' health bar. Higher health means each soldier can absorb multiple heavy hits before going down.
𧱠The Brick Wall:
Defense and Health multiply together. High defense PLUS high health turns your garrison into an impenetrable wall that exhausts enemy rallies.
π‘ The Formula in Plain Words:
Your Troops Γ Attack Γ Lethality
Γ·
Enemy Defense Γ Enemy Health
=
Enemy Troops Wiped Per Round
1. Quality Crushes Raw Swarms
Bringing twice as many troops does NOT double your damageβit only increases power by ~40%. A well-tuned 2M rally with maxed tech and mythic gear will wipe a sloppy 3M swarm with ease.
2. Why Lethality is the Secret Weapon
Most players already have plenty of Attack from research and gear. Because Attack and Lethality multiply each other, boosting Lethality (e.g. Chenko & Petra) produces massive, devastating kill numbers.
3. The Garrison "Brick Wall"
Defense reduces damage received, while Health keeps soldiers on their feet. When holding a castle or fortress, stacking both (e.g. Gordon + Zoe) makes your frontline nearly unkillable.
2. Troop Counter Dynamics & Ratio Strategy
Combat features a hard tactical counter triangle alongside a critical Frontline Casualty Sequencing rule:
Infantry (Meatshield)
Frontline
Target Priority: Absorbs 100% of incoming damage first until depleted. If Infantry reaches 0, backline troops take direct unmitigated hits and suffer catastrophic casualties. Counters Lancers.
Cavalry / Lancers (Flankers)
Flank
Role: High mobility squad with fast charge velocity. Penetrates past the frontline to deal bonus flanking damage directly against enemy backline Archers (Marksmen).
Archers / Marksmen (Artillery)
Backline
Role: Pure damage dealers with the highest base Lethality. Melts enemy Infantry from range as long as friendly frontline Infantry remains alive to protect them.
Standard Battle Ratios & Tactical Rationale
| Formation Preset |
Ratio (Inf / Cav / Arc) |
Tactical Objective |
| Castle Breaker (Standard Attack) |
50% / 20% / 30% |
50% Infantry to absorb defensive retaliation; 20% Cavalry to disrupt garrison archers; 30% Archer for burst kills. |
| Castle Citadel (Standard Defense) |
60% / 20% / 20% |
Heavy 60% frontline wall for sustained defense of castle walls; prevents early backline collapse. |
| Iron Wall (Attrition Defense) |
70% / 15% / 15% |
Maximum EHP wall against overwhelming whale rallies. Focuses entirely on outlasting enemy attack marches. |
| Bear Trap / PvE Raid |
30% / 20% / 50% |
No incoming retaliatory damage. Minimizes Infantry buffer to maximize high-damage backline Archer output. |
3. The "Rule of 4" & March Slot Architecture
Understanding how the game engine treats Rally Leaders versus Joiners is the foundation of competitive SvS rallying:
Rally Leader (Statistical Anchor)
- Deploys 3 Heroes (Infantry, Cavalry, Archer).
- All 3 Expedition Skills from all 3 deployed heroes activate squad-wide.
- The leader supplies 100% of Chief Gear, Hero Gear, Charms, and War Academy Research for the entire march.
Joiners (Rule of 4 Mechanics)
- Slots 1 to 4: The engine reads ONLY the 1st Expedition Skill of the hero placed in the 1st (leftmost) slot. Only 4 joiner skills activate!
- Slots 5 to 10 (Reinforcements): Hero skills are 100% inactive. Secondary joiners provide Troop Count & Tier only.
4. Attack Compounding Multipliers (The 2.25Γ Peak)
Skills inside the same modifier category add linearly, while skills across different categories multiply together:
Total Damage Multiplier =
(1 + Lethality Skills)
Γ
(1 + Squad Attack Skills)
Sub-Optimal: Mono-Stacking (4x Chenko)
Four Level 5 Chenkos all belong to Bracket 101 (+25% Lethality each):
1.0 + (4 × 0.25) = 2.00× multiplier (+100% Lethality only).
Optimal: Cross-Bracket Compounding (2x Chenko + 2x Amane/Marlin)
Two Bracket 101 (+50% Lethality) × Two Bracket 102 (+50% Squad Attack):
(1.0 + 0.50) × (1.0 + 0.50) = 2.25× multiplier (+125% total damage amplification!).
5. Castle Citadel Defense & Effective Health Pool (EHP)
In castle and fortress defense, damage reduction, squad health expansion, and defense bonuses compound exponentially into an impenetrable citadel:
Effective Health (EHP) =
(1 + Health Bonus)
Γ·
(1 - Damage Reduction)
Γ
(1 + Defense Bonus)
Deploying 2x Howard / Zoe (Op 111) provides 36% compound damage reduction, and 2x Gordon (Op 112) provides +50% squad health:
(1.0 + 0.50 Health) Γ· (1.0 - 0.36 Mitigation) =
2.34Γ Base Durability Multiplier
When reinforced with a Garrison Defense Widget (+25% Defense) and high defense anchors (Saul / Alcar), durability scales up to 2.64Γ to 2.74Γ EHP, allowing defenders to crush 2.25Γ attacker rallies through pure attrition.

7. Alliance Field Directives Playbook
Copy-paste directives for your alliance Discord or in-game mail during Castle, Facility, and Fortress wars:
For Attack Rallies
- Rally Leader: Must have highest lethality hero gear; deploy trio (Chenko + Amane/Marlin + Margot).
- Joiners 1 to 4: Must deploy Chenko (Slots 1-2) and Amane or Marlin (Slots 3-4) in march 1st slot.
- Joiners 5 to 10: Send highest troop tier (TG1-TG11) and max capacity. Hero selection does not affect rally damage.
- Troop Ratio: Strictly adhere to 50% Inf / 20% Cav / 30% Arc to preserve backline damage dealers.
For Citadel Garrisons
- Garrison Anchor: High defense player with Garrison Widget must enter first to establish the defense anchor.
- Joiners 1 to 4: Must deploy Howard or Zoe (Slots 1-2) and Gordon (Slots 3-4) in march 1st slot.
- Reinforcements: Reinforce with max frontline Infantry (60% to 70%). Continuous reinforcement cycles prevent frontline depletion.
